Superb Quality Example of an English Regency Period Well Figured Rosewood and Brass Inlaid Chiffonier Side Cabinet of compact proportions, firmly attributed to furniture maker Gillows of London & Lancaster. First quarter of the Nineteenth Century.
The solid hand carved scrolled top edge is surmounted on the bookcase above a figured rosewood backboard and flanked by shaped solid rosewood supports with a single middle book shelf. The contra-partie decorative brass inlay to the frieze conceals a single mahogany lined drawer. The central rosewood brass inlaid drawer front with brass stringing is finely executed to the cupboard doors which open to reveal a single shelf. The dual piped uprights to the sides are neat and tidy and sit above original solid rosewood gadrooned bun feet
